Philly ~ Day Two

We had a WONDERFUL night of rest! After pop-tarts for breakfast, the children and I headed out on the Subway (alone) to the Visitors' Center. I was shaking because I was so nervous of what we might encounter, but we did well!

The visitors' center was packed and the children were immediately fascinated with the people dressed in character for the signings of their names to paper looking like the Declaration of Independence.

We also talked to a man who told us about the Junior Ranger program for the National Parks and the children were excited about going on the "hunt" for special information at all the exhibits.

We also had a wonderful lunch of pizzas and real Caesar salad at a little restaurant in downtown Philadelphia. Each "pie" had six pieces and we didn't have any trouble eating all that! Thin crusts made it a lot easier.

After the filling lunch, we walked over to 6th and Market Street to hop on our tour bus. We rode the hour and half to see the many sights available for touring, and we picked out things we wanted to go back to the next day. We were able to see sights that I never knew existed.

During the ride Ben yelled that he saw our deceased dog, Bogey... so of course I had to get a picture of the dog... I didn't know he was pooping until after I took it! Sorry puppy!

We were hot and tired and decided to try out the street vendor for a snack of diet coke, sprite, and an Italian ice!

As we were deciding what to do next, a nice lady who we also saw the next day came up and asked us if we needed tickets to Independence Hall. Not being a history buff, I dind't know to get in line early and that these were important tickets... but I took them anyway. This ended up being a great tour! We also walked across the street and visited the Liberty Bell. Boo was disappointed it wouldn't ring, but we explained that the "crack" was there for a purpose...so it wouldn't ring anymore!

We ended the night with dinner across the street from the hotel and Boo repeated pizza for dinner and Sis had French Onion Soup! Baths and bedtime were fast and furious! Gearing up for another day in Philly!
