Sports Challenge...racing cars.

This was one of many weather centers in the Franklin Institute. The center allowed the children to move the sand around, move the table, and prepare for a hurricane or some other natural disaster.
One of their favorite places was walking through the giant heart following the path of blood. I couldn't tell them one iota about the details, but they thought it was great! Why oh why didn't I pay attention in high school?
One of the last rooms we went in was the train room. It showed trains from beginning until now. We had to rush through this one too! They were giving rides on the big train behind them.
Legend says to drop a penny on Benjamin Franklin's grave for good luck. Of course we believe in getting all the luck we can have.... so here they are!
We had lunch at the famous City Tavern. Sis and Boo loved the pewter glasses! That bread you see on the table was DELICIOUS! Boo had turkey pot pie, Sis had grilled chicken with noodles, and I had an open-faced Reuben Sandwich. For dessert was chocolate ice-cream. We decided we are going to invest in some pewter dishes because that was what made the food taste so good!
We had not planned on visiting the Constitution Center, but we had a couple of hours where there was nothing planned and decided to go inside the center. It was GREAT! They showed a movie/drama/ live performance...kind of like the Cyclorama in Atlanta. We then walked through the exhibit floor and participated in hands-on activities that taught us about the Constitution. Upstairs there is a flag with a marker of each state. We had to smile for two...Georgia and South Carolina.
We love SC since we were born there!
For the end of our afternoon, we walked over to Franklin Square and played putt-putt. The holes were set up to depict the must sees in Philadelphia. We knew what all of them were!
This is Ben with the Ben Franklin bridge! We went across it in real life too!

Day Three started off with plans of going to the zoo and the Please Touch Museum. When we got to the bus to take us, we found out that those areas were blocked off for a triathlon so we had to think fast and decide to go somewhere else. I talked the children into going to The Franklin Institute... they weren't too excited about it. HOWEVER... when we got inside they LOVED it. They are even wanting to go back another day! There were three floors of excitement, hands-on-activities, and experiments to learn. They made paper, walked through a giant heart, and plahyed in the Sports Challenge area for hours. I had to rush them through the floors because I had no idea it would take them that long to tour a museum. I think I am raising nerds!
The night ended with dinner in the restaurant downstairs and yogurt across the street! WE are keeping them in business this week. Funny story... Boo has been coloring in a SpongeBob book all week... I put it down to pay in the yogurt place. When we got ready to go to bed... he realized it was missing. So...I had to dress again and go back down to the yogurt place to get it! The things we do for our babies!
